Cellebrite documentation leaked to 404 Media who are now publishing PDFs containing a support matrix of all the smartphones unlockable by the software suite used by law enforcement globally, including Australia. The key thing to know is Cellebrite doesn't work with a locked iPhone running iOS 17.4, a good reminder to keep your phone updated. The iPhone XR and iPhone 11 are vulnerable to Cellebrite's attacks if they're running iOS 17.1 to 17.3.1 and most iPhones are vulnerable if you're only running iOS 17.0.3 or older. On the Android side of things, the door is wide open on basically all versions of Android running on all devices except the encrypted user data partition on the Pixel 6 and above.
The AI accelerationists are starting to rally behind Trump to become President, with Elon Musk saying he will donate US$45m a month to the Trump loyal America PAC and VC firm Andreessen Horowitz (aka a16z) funneling cash to Trump too. The Republican party has already said they'll repeal Biden's executive order on the "Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence", so it makes sense these clowns with huge investments in AI are backing Trump. They're also very pleased JD Vance was picked as vice president, as he used to work at Peter Thiel's investment firm and is embedded in the tech VC landscape, he's one of their guys. The Washington Post has a story about various right-wing think tanks gearing up for a "Manhattan Project" for AI once Trump returns to the Whitehouse. If you think AI is insufferable now, it's only gonna get worse.
I may have mentioned it before, but the TinyPod is adorable and is on sale now for US$79. It's a "silicone case with a built-in scroll wheel that houses the Apple Watch chassis" that lets you use the Apple Watch like a little iPod. I don't know how feasible it is to use day to day due to the Apple Watch requiring skin contact to remain unlocked (entering a PIN each time you take it out of your pocket would be annoying), but it's something weird and interesting, so good luck to everyone involved, have fun with it folks.
